In collaboration with California College of the Arts, ICA SF invited CCA graduate students to propose creative exhibitions in the ICA SF bathrooms, continuing our mission of supporting the local arts ecosystem and encouraging artists to push the boundaries of their practice. From June 6 - September 1, these spaces will feature site-specific installations by Nasib Elahimehr and Ashley Spencer.

Celebrate the opening of CCA Student Spotlight on June 5th, 7-9pm, alongside the opening of Suchitra Mattai: she walked in reverse and found their songs.

In honor of Peter Simensky, a beloved mentor, collaborator, and advocate.

Nasib Elahimehr is a contemporary artist with a focus on exploring cultural identity and the human experience through mixed media. Her work often incorporates elements of traditional Iranian art forms, particularly the ancient technique of mirror mosaics (Āina-kāri). By creating sculptures from mirrors, she aims to reflect the transient nature of life and the interconnectedness of our experiences. Through these reflective surfaces, Elahimehr hopes to provoke thought and evoke emotions, encouraging viewers to contemplate their own journeys and the ephemeral nature of existence.

Ashley Spencer is a mixed-race interdisciplinary artist with a decade of experience in ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media. Her work showcases her personal perspective on topics such as the Black experience in conversation with hauntology, current issues regarding women’s bodies, and generational grief. Her pieces are often collaborations of different mediums to create explorations of time and material histories.
